If you are an independent, just get yourself a work permit/visa and get over there. What's holding you up? ;)

I work in Cambridge, England. Actually, it's funny, I'm at the moment looking into ways of getting work permits etc for the States and I'm looking at going to the D.C area...

Let me know if you succeed with the work permits. There are alot of job opportunities in this area.
