And just where did I tell you anything about any company and/or any product in this "Statement" ? I did not. I only stated you should come back to VTCTalk on monday to see if something new has been announced by some vendor. (which you should be doing anyway )

Sorry, you and I both know that isn't true, you are disclosing something without spelling out what it is. I'm just saying, abide by your own rules. Release dates for information are also covered by your NDA or confidentially statements, not just feature specifics.

If you don't think such a statement isn't 'harmful', obviously you haven't learned how to milk information from someone, or find out how to confirm information between sources.

I'm going to side with Gary on this. Saying "I've got some important news I want to share with you next week" and saying "Polycom has released XYZ product" are not the same thing, not even close.

What if.. you knew something was coming.. and you didn't know when?

Then you hear someone going 'oo.. just wait till monday and you'll all know who's best!'.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to put those two things together.

Plus, the smarter types will use that same philosophy to extract information from someone without them offering it up first. All you need to do is say 'hey, do you think wainhouse will make a big deal about monday's annoucements?' and when the person says 'oh yeah.. its gonna be huge', they just verified your suspicion without offering it up themselves.

When you are under NDA.. play dumb.. regardless of what you think is relevant or not. The smart types take your little bit of 'harmless' info and combine it with all the other stuff and wham.. you got the complete picture.

I agree. This includes playing dumb even if some one has let the cat out of the bag.
