OK, you all knew it was coming. It's time for our first anonymous salary survey.

So come on, don't be shy, we're trying to help all of our visitors get a good feel for the average salaries being demanded for particular positions. So with that being said I will begin a series of salary surveys based on the following (as broad as possible) job types.

Single site facilitator - 1-4 rooms, large, small whatever.

Multiple Site Coordinator - This person is usually a managerial type that is responsible for 5 or more rooms and is often called "manager of video operations" for a given organization or some similar title.

Sales - Not really a technician but knows enough to speak the language. More of a salesperson.

Engineer - Nuts and bolts person. Designs systems be they network or room related. Develops system architectures and/or implements them. These can be people who work for major manufacturers or vendors.

If you don't fit in any of these categories, let me know by replying to this thread. However try your best to place yourself in the closest category you can. For example, if you're a tech support only person you might fit into either the signle or multiple site category depending on how many rooms you support. Or maybe an engineer depending on the level of support you provide.

Thanks,

George

George,

You need to put the description of each one at the top of each of the polls.. that way we don't have to bounce back and forth cause we forgot which one is which.

Also, there is a "combined" group of "Sales/Systems engineers"... They don't really fit any of the above catagories.. That is typically what the Vendors have .

Not really possible. There is nowhere I can fit enough characters in any of the input fields to place it "at the top" of each poll. Did you mean at the top of the description box below it? The description is already there. Also, at the top it does say Sales - Salary Survey, Engineer - Salary Survey, etc.

Well, you're right, but there's also a group of Sales/Non-Tech" folks as well. We're not gonna be able to cover everyone so I mentioned to match as close as you can. For example, those people you speak of (and I've met a few) probably consider themselves engineers first and are getting paid more for thier engineer skills than their sales talents. So they would most likely fit best in the Engineer section.

George,
In trying to put myself in the correct group....I have a question....while I oversee multiple sites, I provide in-house expertise for new rooms-standard and custom, interface with the vendors, research new opportunities for technologies, finalize details, approvals,,etc of engineering...training, upgrades and maintenance...my title has become videoconferencing network analyst..don't know how they came up with it but my responsibilities exceed "running rooms" and I am not on the sales/engineering side....any thoughts? I know I am underpaid!!! lol

Uhhh, wow.....

Well to be honest with you, a lot of "Multiple Site Coordinators" find themselves doing a little engineer work on the side as well. It just goes along with the territory when you're running multiple rooms that need constant IT upkeep. Because I didn't see you mention anywhere about architecture/infrsastructure design and I'm assuming overseeing the multiple rooms day to day operations is your primary concern, I'd say that you fit in the Multiple Site Coordinator group that does engineering on the side :D . Though your responsibilities go beyond running the rooms, that is still your primary job. If you're getting paid a little extra because of your additional duties, that's fine as a lot of people are in the same boat.

thanks George..

BTW..i also am responsible for the network side of things....we have the mgc100....IP and ISDN...but we walk the line with our IS Dept. as far as infrastructure so its more of an "interactive mediator" role I play there.....need i say more? There is actually another peron who handles the day to day setups, scheduling and cdr data gathering....so i can concentrate more on the technical, innovative side of our growth, service and maintenance. Thank goodness I love what I do....
