Has anyone upgraded a Polycom FX to the 6.0 softwre release yet? Any initial comments?

I have it on my FX's and VS's and I like it..there is a new look to it...color-wise. Also, I like the change they made to accessing the address book (not cpeed dial..that is the same). One of the biggest things, for me, is how they finally changed the Call Log by using DATES!!! it is such a big helpsince we use them to to analyze activity for end points when a problem in the connectivity appears...I just used it yesterday to explain what actually happened in a multipoint call that went down on the ISDN..

It was a pain to get though because of the requirements Polycom now has with regard to service contracts...which I have but I had to wait for the keys while we play the system serial number game..something Polycom seems reluctant on making easier to get from end points.

Carolyn,

Unfortunately I'm also stuck in "serial number limbo" between myself, Polycom and the 3rd party VAR (hard to see any value in this). However on a few of the newer units I've bought which came with the H.264 option activated, the H.264 video quality is a noticable improvement at lower bandwidth call rates. I haven't experienced the ISDN multipoint bug you mentioned in your other post, so the 6.0 upgrade hasn't been too painful.

I was curious if you knew that according to Polycom the VS4000, FX & EX codec line will not be receiving SIP enhancements whatsoever; only the new VSX line (and possibly Via Video?) will be SIP enabled. Older style codecs will need to use some form of SIP gateway, MCU, etc... for SIP call establishment. Is this a limitation in horsepower or a marketing ploy to force people to buy new codecs (and/or SIP infrastructure)? Inquiring minds want to know
