Hello All,

my name is josh... i guess i was just trying to guage the amount of professionals in my line of work and here i am. :D

Got my start in VTC operations through the Navy.... nothing special, just a PictureTel unit, Teleos interface (ISDN connectivity), and crypto units. Really was basic considering what i've found out there is now through research (we used H.261 for example).

Kinda cool to see theres a place for people in this job so i'll most likely be posting more often. Glad to be here.

Thanks, but i just live here while i'm the military. Getting out this september and i think i might have locked in a job at this company that i'm really anxious to get into...

They run some hubs out of the mainland and one on island... company called York Telecom. Not too sure what i'll be working directly with but it will probably most likely be something with polycom or Tandberg (sp?).

Does anyone happen to have a good starting point(s) to start researching different equipment and stuff online perhaps??

well here's as good a place as any - there are some threads comparing Polycoms and Tandbergs, and you'll get all the objective advice you could ever need on here :)
