Howdy.
My company is currently using a Polycom VSX7000 (current firmware) connecting to the Internet through a NetScreen 25 (current firmware) with totally open inbound and outbound rules.
If the firewall settings on the Polycom are set to 'No Fixed:Behind NAT:H.323 Compatible NAT:Advertise External Address', I can neither make or receive calls from public devices. If I uncheck the 'H.323 Compatible NAT' checkbox, I can receive calls, but I still cannot make outgoing calls to public devices.
We have a sister device, setup exactly the same in our NYC office. With the firewall settings on the Polycom are set to 'No Fixed:Behind NAT:H.323 Compatible NAT:Advertise External Address' I can connect just fine to either the internal or external IP, and they can call us just the same.
We also seem to have a number of inconsistent issues connecting to Tandberg devices. Since I am farily new to the video conferencing scene, I was hoping you guys might have some suggestions on what I can do so that we can make consistent, reliable public IP calls with these devices.
