i just got off the phone with polycom tech support. we have a polycom fx unit upgraded to 6.0 software. i was researching about h.264 option. the tech support guy told me the unit currently supports up to 192k for h.264 calls. i would have to wait for the next software upgrade for higher bandwidth calls. has any one connected higher than 192k on a h.264 call using the upgraded fx unit?

thanks in advance?

I have had calls @384 between FX/VS4000's with 6.0.1(with the h.264 option key) to other FX/VS4000's 6.0.1 (with the H.264 option key) and Tandberg 880's and the stat's told me H.264.

I seem to remember that the limitation is at 336k because they only send H.264 at 15fps so I just did a few test calls between a VSX and an upgraded VS4000 (same code as FX) and here are the results.
@ 336k and below, transmit and receive are both H.264. When running at 336K the VSX says its sending 30fps but says it’s only receiving 15fps so this seems to coincide with what I remember.
@ 384k VS4000 transmits H.236+ but receives H.264 from the VSX, BTW I assume two upgraded VS4000 units would send H.263+ in both directions.
@ 512k and above, transmit and receive are both H.263+
Hope this helps,

My Polycom iPower's stay with H.264 all the way through 512. Only at 768 do they jump to H.263+

The VSX units also do H.264 up to 512k.
