Ok folks, just got the word from Codian they have a VCR2000 "beta" online for us to play with. It's IP address is 64.71.128.190. There are a number of recorded sessions on there and you appear to be able to record a new one. If you record a session, be aware that other maybe able to see it so BEHAVE !
I'm sure Kevin will be watching this thread so if you bump into any issue or just want to make suggestions, please feel free too !
Enjoy folks !

Hi kfloo
I just tried from here and it seems to work fine. What are you using to call in on?
You could also try calling our Demo MCU on 64.71.128.186 to see if that works ok for you.

System says I am logged in as a guest

Hi
The web interface is not yet available for general demo - it should be next week.
However feel free to dial in with an H323 endpoint and use Far End Camera contols to watch pre-recordings and to even record a message for us :D!
Thanks!

kfloo,
To Try the IPVCR follow these instructions:
1. Dial 64.71.128.190 from your Endpoint (what endpoint are you using?). Make sure you do not call out at too high a bitrate for the connection you are on (I've noticed from some of the clips that people have recorded that there is a lot of packet loss between them and the IPVCR.) For example if you are on 512/256 adsl, only call out at 192k. You will now be connected to our menu system, otherwise known as our Auto Attendant.
2 . Set your endpoint to far end camera control (how you do this obviously depends on your endpoint).
3. Use the up and down camera controls to move up and down the menu to highlight a recording there (some recodings have PINs - you will not be able to watch these. The PIN protected recordings are obvious as in the bottom right hand corner of the screen you will see a thumbnail view of unprotected conferences, however you will see a picture of a padlock for those recording which are private and so PIN protected.)
4. Press right on the remote to start playing the recording.
5. While in the recording, if you press zoom out on your remote you will be presented with an on screen menu - navigate this as above with up and down to highlight the options and right to execute the option.
6. Also, from the Auto Attendant that you initially connect to you can highlight then press right on the "Record this session". You will then see a looped back video of yourself. Press up to start recording this, and then down to stop recording. You can then watch this back as above.
There are also voice prompts throughout to descibe how to do as above.
I will post at a later date, how to register with our gatekeeper in order that you can connect to the IPVCR via E164 number. This will allow you to record point to point calls, and record multipoint calls, as well as connect to the Auto Attendant .
If you cannot connect it may well be because all ports are in use or that the IPVCR is being used for internal use - please try back later.
For detailed instructions for the use of the MCU, rather than the IPVCR check out www.codian.com/demo
If you have any other problems please PM me and we can set up a call to help you get it up and running.
Thanks!
Kevin

Aloha All!
I just tried the IPVCR out and I must say that it rocks! There's a lot of potential for this little box and I can't wait to get my own and play around with it.
Just a note though - I was having a little trouble controlling it with my TANDBERG remote as it seems that the TANDBERG double-pulses the IR signal when you press a button. This doesn't seem to affect the codec, but it sure played havoc with the IPVCR!
Otherwise, I had fun playing around (and even left a few recordings...).
I assume there will be greater control through the web interface for doing things like naming your conference and adding PINs and things, right?
From my perspective, looks like Codian has another great piece of gear!

Yup - thats a known problem, but thanks for letting us know - a fixed version will be there shortly!

Yup - this is very much like our current MCU interface. I'll set up an account soon for you guys to play with...

Hi All
I have set up an account on our online IPVCR for those of you who would like to play.
Here is some brief instructions how to use it:
IP for Web access: 64.71.128.190
Username for web access: vtctalk
Password: vtctalk
- From the web interface you can watch recordings via streaming, have the IPVCR call out to a Codec to play back the recording, or have the IPVCR call out to a Codec or MCU to record.
IP for H323 call : 64.71.128.190
- if you call into this you will get to the IPVCRs Auto Attendant. Set your endpoint to far end control - then you can navigate the menu with your endpoint's Far End Camera Contols. Press up and down to highlight the clip you want to playback - then press right to play it. Alternatively you can highligh "Record this session" and then press right. This will take you to the recording console. If you then press up, you will start recording, and down will stop recording. Leave us some clips of yourselves so we can all see what we all look like!!!
Gatekeeper IP: 64.71.128.187
– I recommend you register an endpoint with this gatekeeper. Then:
- You call 8000 to get to the Auto attendant,
- You can call 8001 to call in and start recording ( For example - our Demo MCU is registered with this gatekeeper – so if you want to record a conference, you can call out from the conference on the MCU to 8000 and this will start recording that conference.
- Call 7XXXX where XXXX is the number of a second endpoint registered with the gatekeeper this will record a point to point call between the 2 endpoints.
Have a play - let us know what you think. (please be aware that this unit may at times be offline for testing and development. If you are unable to call or log in please try back later.)
Kevin.
