Is there a such thing as opensource videoconferencing software? Has anyone seen it in action or even heard of such a thing?

I haven’t played with any of this myself, but a lot of the universities use the Open323 gatekeeper. Check out this page for the download information:

If you are using Linux, there is a VTC project call Gnomemeeting, but I haven't used it myself (yet). I would think that Suse probably has a good implementation of it.

Like he said, open323 is the only one i have seen after some searching. I have seen Gnomemeeting before, as my best friend is a Linux nerd and was talking about it. I believe they are actually using an impressive overlay transparency sort of thing for huge overlapping vid windows.
