Does anyone have experience using Polycom's ViaVideo? What are its limitations.

I use ViaVideo almost everyday, for setting up and monitoring conferences. We have an Accord MGC-50, so I just make ithe ViaVideo an additional endpoint on our conferences. It's never been a problem. I'm using ViaVideoI with the ViaVideoII software. I tried the ViaVideoII device, and it was nice, but I can't justify the hardware upgrade.

One "limitation" is the way that ViaVideo handles the Slides feature. If another endpoint loads slides, the ViaVideo continues to display video, but it also opens a new window for each slide. It's weird if you're not used to it, but it works fine.

We currently have a few of the Via-Video I units sprinkled around on various desktops and they work relatively well. I’m told the Via-Video II is essentially the same unit with a little better camera. Because of the various support issues (there have been some USB and software compatibility problems) and the increased quality/features we are going to recommend buying the V500 instead. If you have any specific questions feel free to ask.

I have used the Via Video I on several occasions and have always been happy with it. Very easy to install and use. It is also a small, light unit which is very road travel friendly. The only product I can compare it to would be Vcon's Vigo, which is also a good unit. The Vigo is quite a bit bigger but does support a PTZ camera if you require it in a portable. All in all, I think the Via Video has a more "user friendly" interface. You should be happy with either unit.

Can u plz tell what basically is the difference between Polycom ViaVideo I and ViaVideo II. Is there any difference between these two devices in terms of protocol support or responses to any commands for any protocol.
Kindly tell me in details abt the fact.

The basic difference is the camera.
