I've got a client that is asking about a new feature in the Tandberg MCU line. They called it "virtual monitors" and I believe the feature is the ability to dedicate a remote site to a specific monitor (ala the Polycom FX/VS4K).

My question is, how does it connect ? how do you switch to another site ? Is it only on the decidated MCU or can it be done at the endpoint embedded ? And any other information you can tell me about.... I believe it is part of the MPX release but could be wrong..

If this is not a released or announced feature, please PM/email me privately and I will remove this post.

Thanks for any help !

Hi Gary,

That is one of the many features available through the XML dataport. You have very good control over what gets displayed on the outputs of the MXP product line. The new dataport is meant to give integrators far more control of the codec than ever before by allowing the integrator to not only control it but to decide the codec's behavior.

This feature is in the baseline F1.0 software for the MXP. So, its public :)

Cool !!

So, this is an EP option, right ?

And basically, you are allowing, from the XML port, the ability to direct any site in the embedded multipoint call to any screen ? How many screens can we connect ?? and want resolution for each (DVI, XGA, SVIDEO, etc)..

Thanks!
