I have one pcm VS4000 from 2001 that seems to have a dead power supply has anyone ever encountered this problem before? I also have another VS4000 from the same year that has a non-functioning visca camera control port, and a FX that refuses to turn on or power up at all no matter what power supply i use even one from a known working unit. Any thoughts to why or how these problems could happen? I am working with pcm to rma the units. ;)

Try to check Power switch (with some om-meter or volt-meter). I had same problem with my FX and after I changed power switch FX is working find.

First check your AC Adapter and all voltages. The scheme is on the back of AC Adapter. You need to have on pin3 +5V and on pin5 +12V. If you missing one of them you need another AC Adapter but If you have everything OK, open your FX and you will see 6 pins on your power switch check with om-meter connection two by two in both state, switch on and switch off. If there is no connection you will need to change your power switch. I found mine over Internet ($12). But before switch checking check both fuses on FX motherboard. There are both near power switch, small black plates with label F1 and F2. They need to be in short circuit. If you are not familiar with electronics and soldering try to find some friend who is. Good luck.

I have had Fx's go out after a static electricty zap when trying to reboot them. I have learned to put static mats in front of my units.
