I am trying to establish an ICIF call (interlaced CIF) between two Tandberg 6000s. I've got each set to use "Natural Video" at 384kbps and above, and I'm calling at 768kbps, but all I seem to get is plain CIF according to the call status. Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get them to use ICIF?

Both Tandbergs are PAL. One has E4.0 software, one has B8.2.

A related question: Are Tandberg ICIF, Sony ICIF and Polycom ProMotion interoperable?

didn't know sony did interlaced.. the interlaced on the ipower systems will interop with tandbergs, but the viewstation will not (propritary still)

I'm trying to think what would keep you at CIF.. is natural video part of the optional software packages? do you have those installed? I assume you are looking at camera input and not a PC or anything. Also, make sure the picture quality menu is set to 'motion', not sharpness. That might be it as well.

Thanks, it's very interesting to hear that there may be at least some degree of interoperability.

Sony definitely does ICIF. I have managed to get it working between two PCS-1 units. I hear that the newest sony endpoints PCS-G70 will even do ICIF H.264.

To answer your questions: I think both units have natural video installed as both have the "Natural Video" setting in the call quality menu (which I have set for "384kbps and above"). I am looking at the camera input. The units are set to "auto" rather than motion or sharpness - I'll try motion.
