Hello all. I have a Polycom VS4000, and my users want to try out IP based conferencing mixed with ISDN.

For example, they want to call out to the distant end on ISDN (using the Polycom 4000) and also have an IP based session on our side join in the call. Can the Polycom VS 4000 add an IP based call while in an ISDN session? The distant end will be ISDN, no IP users on that side. If this is feasible, I was considering getting a Polycom ViaVideo II. Your thoughts?

Thanks...John

Stungib,

In short, yes it can. In our tests so far you have to make the ISDN call first then connect to the IP user but it is indeed possible.

Hi George,

OK that makes sense. The polycom will have to make the ISDN connection, and then I'll dial the IP address of my user, from the polycom and it will bridge the call. Thanks...John

One other little thing to remember is that all sites must be at the same speed.
