I'm looking for a way to conduct and record interviews over the web so that I can edit them and place them on a streaming server for broadcast on demand.

In particular I'd like to be able to capture sessions from MS Messenger or another such applet, and then edit/encode them in Adobe Premier. Is there a way to capture videoconferencing sessions in appropriate formats to accomplish this?

Thanks
Don

You might want to read this thread too. Other Thread (http://www.vtctalk.com/index.php?showtopic=156)

iPowers WMV file certainly can be edited though you will likely lose any "tick marks" for the high resolution graphic "page flips".

dholeman,

Was this answer along the lines of what you were looking for or did you require a more software based solution? You mentioned MS Messenger. Is that the sole method you are using for conducting the interviews?

You should check out www.conferserv.com (http://www.conferserv.com) or one of thier service providers (www.glowpointwebcasting.com (http://www.glowpointwebcasting.com) or www.ivci.com (http://www.ivci.com)).

And of course, you should also look at the Codian digital VCR 2200 recording unit. Not out yet but very impressive (especially with it's built in VOD capability)..

Although it doesn't see much discussion here, you can use Macromedia's Flash Communication Server to handle both the recording and playback. All of the functions are handled on the server side, so all you need is a browser with a recent version of the Flash plugin on the client side.

You'll need a Flash developer to build the application for you, but a simple record/playback system is fairly simple, and shouldn't cost all that much if the developer really knows his/her chops
