Hi guys,

I'm testing on the software MCU call macrospider, it is a h.323 platform running on win2k.

Before i go further, for a point to point h.323 call over the internet, what i did was to configure the port forwarding in my router, which is TCP port 1720. Any incoming video call will know where to route to the destination.

And now, i tried using the same method with software MCU, but it doesn't work. Note, all the endpoint is using private NAt IP.
I also tried to put the MCU IP to the DMZ zone, the result still the same. No one endpoint can reach the MCU from the internet. But from MCU going out no problem.

hope you guys can give me some idea on how to resolve my problem, thanks in advance B)

sfgoo,
Are you sure that the MCU can take an inbound call without a gatekeeper? Not all of them can. The mcu may not know where to route the call without gatekeeper support. Outbound is different, in that it is confined to a particular conference.

I checked the Macrospider web site and am unable to download the demo or the user manual. I was able to get the datasheet however, and it says "Independent Standalone Gatekeeper" as well as "External Gatekeeper Support". Not sure what they mean about the independent. Sfgoo, Does this MCU have an internal gatekeeper? If you need one, you can register to the VTCtalk gatekeeper at 68.50.225.125.

you guys post a very valid question, maybe i need to install a gatekeeper in order for the MCU to work. My vendor tried once to call in to their software MCU and it works, but at that time i didn't know whether they use gatekeeper or not.

I tried to call them and they advise me to configure my MCU to public IP, and i don't see any reason to do it, as i had done it with EX MP for my multipoint call.

Is there any free gatekeeper where i can download it for free or a trialware? how can i register the VCTalk gatekeeper?

Thanks,
foo

OK...Here is how you would register to the VTCtalk gatekeeper. The first thing you would need to do is configure a public IP address on the MCU (just for testing purposes). The gatekeeper is public and if you register a private IP address, then the calls will not be able to be routed properly. Once you have configured a public IP address, register the MCU to the gatekeeper: 68.50.225.125

Let me know if you have issues.
