Does anyone know the default password for connecting to a Sony Contact 1600 over IP (Web Browser access)??
We have a few units that we have only just managed to get data connectivity for so we are adding them to our Tandberg Management Software (TMS).
Thanks

Hi,
I tried this and it did not work, I think someone has put there own password in and not bothered to either remember it or take a note!
So now my next question is does anyone know how to overide this or can you perform a full reset or the system?
I know with the Tandberg's you can reset the password using a serial cable, laptop and hyperterminal.
Thanks
Gareth

looking through the menus of ours, you could try adding a different password in the "administration" part of "setup".
do you get much joy tracking Sonys on TMS? I've got a 1600 on v2 and I can't make TMS launch calls from it.

I have tried all of these and still no joy!
Can you confirm what the user name is? Is it the same as your system name? I don't think it is as I have tried it as well as setting the web password to one that I know.
I think Im just not getting the correct User Name put in.
Anyone??
Thanks as always!

unless yer got some wee gremlins in the mix there :D
Hey chaps,
Been viewing the posts on this forum since the start.
I finally have registered as a user so I can help out as I could not understand why nobody has suggested the Sony service menu's for this problem Airwave1 has ??
Go to you "setup" menu, highlight the "general" icon then press "7" followed by "2" (72). This will take you to the Service Menu where you can reset the system as well as lots of lovely other things, including adding command lines.

Just a quick question, does this also work for the PCS-1/PCS-11?
Haven't had the chance to try it out yet.
If not, does anyone know what the access to the service menu is?
Thanks

I have gone into the service menu and reset the system and still no joy using the default password!!
This is proving to be a real nightmare!!
Airwave,
When you were in the service menu which icon did you select ?
If you selected "Reset" then this would have just effectively re-booted the system withour clearing any configuration info.
To enable you to clear out existing/forgotten passwords etc you need to select the "clear setup" icon............
This will erase ALL system configurations including passwords, it will NOT remove you address registries.
Other web login info which may be useful for you (and others); You have x3 different login levels available "User", "Super User" and "Administrator":
User = Access to only view the address registries and configurations and not make any changes.
To login as a user enter "user" as the login name with the "remote access password" as the password
Super User = Access to view and modify the address book but view only the configurations.
To login as a Super User enter "super" as the login name with the "Super User password" as the password.
Administrator = Access to view and change everything on the system.
To login as the Administrator enter "admin" and the user name with the "Admin Password" as the password.

Ooops, forgot to also mention that earlier posts suggested that the user name and password as being "PCS" & "1600" respectivley.
This is correct if you are connecting via FTP to perform a software update but not correct for the browser.
The default browser login is actually "admin" and "blank" (ie:no password).
The older PCS1500P used to use "PCS" & "1500" for the browser login which may have caused some confusion......
