I had a chance to see the TANDBERG Director last week....

If you haven't seen this unit, then do yourself a favor and check it out live if you can. It is amazing!

Take a TANDBERG 6000 codec, a Smart Technologies SmartBoard 3000i and tie it all together with Crestron control and what do you have? The TANDBERG Director - the ultimate VTC toy!

Most of us pretty much know the 6000 so I won't delve too deeply here, but suffice to say all the functionality is there as well as the quality.

I don't know how many of us are familiar with the 3000i. Imagine a huge (60") whiteboard that's interactive. Touch the screen with your finger and the rear-projected image of your PC follows. Yes, control your PC from a 60" touchscreen - very cool! Now add total control of the TANDBERG 6000 - the cool factor has just tripled! Everything you can do from your 6000 remote, you can do standing at the board using your finger. Plus, the SmartBoard allows annotation over the PC portion of your image!

VTC connectivity and PC whiteboarding at your fingertips! And with T.120 the whiteboarding can be interactive!

Alright, alright - enough gushing. The TANDBERG Director is worth checking out though. Try it, you'll be amazed.

the coolest thing about the director is the effect of having multiple screens while truely only having one screen... and of course the cool scaling effects while they change :)

Plus.. did you know you can use the same technology without the whiteboard? You can get the same 'unit' in a form factor for use with projection systems and touchpanel. Very cool.
