Hi,

We have (unfourtunately) 30 Sony PCS-1600 codecs and two of them are experiencing the same problem.
The problem is that the screen flashes green every so often (not at set intervals, its random), it does seem to flash more when you first turn it on.

I have swapped the camera's over with a fully working one and this does not solve it so it looks like its a fault with the video proccessing board.
It does not matter if you use the S-Video or Composite out as both have the same.
Also it is the whole screen that flashes and it does not matter what you have on screen, it could be the main cam, aux in or just the menu.

I have called a couple of companies as recommended by Sony but they have not had much dealings with these units and can only offer to inspect the unit at an hourly rate.

Just wandered if anyone had experienced this or could recommend a company that might have repaired this kind of fault before.

I live in the UK.

Thanks very much!

If I where you, I would ask the companies that you have talked to before if they have any old Sony pcs 1600 that they can sell you (cheap ofcourse).

No one (not even sony apparently) will be able to repair these unit to a lower cost then buying used units.

As I recall it, if a unit was dead, sony just replaced it, they never repaired these units. You could ofcaurse always try to reinstall the software... that might help.

Anyway, ebay probably have auctions that you can win for as little as $100. (The camera itself is well worth that price :)

Thanks for the advice, I'll have a look on eBay then although to be honest I'm really hoping we can start to phase out these units as they fail as they are a little out of date now and do not support the latest protocols.

Thanks
