Hi There!
I just found this forum and, after looking at a few threads, decided to join right away.
Not many people in my town care about IMUXES, H.264, MCUs, why users won't adopt VC..... so I am excited to join this virtual community and look forward to being a part of it.
I manage a 22 site Telehealth ( Videoconferencing for Healthcare) network in the province of Alberta, Canada. We do over 1000 hours of telehealth activity per month and have standardised on Tandberg equipment running on an ISDN network. We will be transitioning to a province wide fiber based IP network this year.
We use our system for Telepsychiatry, telegeriatrics, a lung cancer clinic, telerehabilitation and are adding new clinical services all the time.
I am a "Techie" but have a special interest in "human factors" that affect the adoption of Telehealth:
Change management issues.
Building a Culture of Use.
Health Technology assessment of Telehealth.
Clinical Telehealth Standards.
The reason I'm into the "human factors" is that after solving all the hard videoconferencing technical issues we still don't have the usage that we should.
I'll stop now before I write a book.
Look forward to meeting all of you.
