View Full Version : Tandberg 880, Taking The Floor?

Hi,
We have a Tandberg MCU and when we connect into it using our classic Tandberg 880's (which are set to auto take floor) and select "PC" it will automatically take the floor. With the new MXP's set this same way they do not.
I have tried the latest F2.1 software.
Anyone found this as well?
Thanks

I don't know about anyone else but F2.1 was a disaster for me.
It wouldn't load right into TMS 8, I couldn't access it over the web the right way (all the tabs never appeared). It worked ok, connections were fine over ISDN, but we could not remotly monitor it at all. I FTP'd into it and downgraded it to F1.5 and everything is smooth now.
I opened a ticket and asked they submit it as a bug but I hope it was just my one unit, since I know a bunch more 880s are on their way to my world real soon.
I'll start a new thread for this but I just saw this and wanted to caution you.

there is a setting in the codecs to automatically choose floor or not. its a feature in newer software.. not sure when it came about. But thats probably why your mxps aren't doing it.
as for mxp and TMS8.. TMS 8 is old.. the mxps are newer and probably aren't compatible. I would suggest trying the newer TMS versions

Yeah, but F1.5 works fine, and that doesn't explain why the web browser didn't work.

Morgan,
TMS 8 was released in Jan 2004, 6 months before the MXP was launched. It will partially work because the MXP has a legacy API that is mostly compatible with the Classic endpoints. However TMS now uses XML with MXP, so if you upgrade to TMS 9.6, you will realize the MXP is more fully supported.
Understand that TMS 8 preceeds the MXP products so any working of the product is completely by chance. I would recommend upgrading to TMS 9.6 -- its got some neat things in it.

Technical per the standards when showing content you are supposed to request floor. We made that change and it upset some customers, so we added the ability to do either. If I remember later today I will take a look at my MXP and see where the setting is and let you know.

You can take the floor manually but its a pain as you have to press 4 buttons as its inside the presentation sub-menu, the thing is there is a option for tunring auto take floor on or off so that does not make sense?
Seems more like a flaw in the software to me!
Thanks for replying Sean, hopefully you can get to the bottom of this!
Thanks

Hi guys, did some checking and this feature is not in the MXP line. It is in the classic line. Is this something you would like to see in the products?

Yes Yes Yes!!!!
Its already got an option for enabling and dis abling this feature anyway so just make sure that works and everyone will be happy as they can either have this feature working or not.
Thanks very much Sean!

The 'floor to full screen' option in the MXP is for the 5+1 layout of the Multisite. It determines whether or not a site that has taken floor is seen full screen or in the large 'quad' (or sext?) of the 5+1.
I will put this back on the wishlist as something to reconsider in the future.
Thanks for your input, we appreciate it.
