Hello,

I am VERY new to this whole videoconferencing idea. This site was recommended by a friend of my husbands who, I think, is scared about all the questions I have! The language is new to me as well as the technology. I'm hoping to get some information by reading others postings - kind of like learning a foriegn language!

I am the professional development/curriculum coordinator for the Central Berkshire Regional School District in Western Massachusetts. I see many opportunities for teacher training through videoconferencing. We live in a very rural area about 3 hours from Boston. I also see some great programs for classrooms out there. I am excited and ready to learn. I hope I will be able to acquire the necessary skills in order to implement this!

Debbie,

I see from your other message that you already know about CILC. I have a short list of other K-12 IVC sites here: http://seatrek.org/whatis.html.

There is also this book from ISTE, if you need something on paper:

Videoconferencing for K–12 Classrooms: A Program Development Guidehttp://www.iste.org/eseries/source/Orders/isteProductDetail.cfm?product_code=VIDCON

Good luck.

Hi Debbie,

Here's a wave from the other end of the state. There's a few ideas for doing video conferencing and academic work - one thing if you're interested is video conferencing with universities for different programs. One in particular that I'm thinking of is out of Cambridge University in England, which has video conferenced classes for students that you might want to check out: http://motivate.maths.org/

And though I joined a long time ago, I'm just getting back to this place and starting to post. So this is my hello post to those who frequent this board.
