We have 2 offices, each with an ADSL line. The ISP service on both lines comprise of a static IP address assigned by the ISP. This is done by setting the routers to connect over PPPoE, but the ISP will always assign the same IP address. Internet connectivity is fine.

One office has a Linksys BESFR81 with latest firmware. The other office has a Linksys BEFSRU31 with latest firmware. Both Offices have a Sony PCS-1. Is it possible for one Sony to establish a connection with the other sony if both Sony systems are behind their Linksys routers ?

The Sony setup screen has an option to turn on NAT. Is it correct to input the static IP address assigned by the ISP to the Linksys router into this field ? What else is needed ? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that should work fine. The only other thing you can do is put the local IP Address of your codec (will probably be a 192.168.1.x address) into the DMZ setting. That setting is usually found under Applications and Gaming inside the router. Hope this helps.

Just one question. How would Sony number 1 make contact with Sony number 2 ? The only thing I can think of is - on Sony number 1, in the field requiring the IP address of the system to call, enter the static IP address assigned to the router that Sony number 2 is behind. I cannot work out how calling the IP address of the router will enable a connection to the other Sony unit behind the router. ?!

I am not as familiar with the Sony systems but if there is a place to put a NAT address in the Sony then put the public IP Address there. When each system needs to be called, you would then call the public IP Address that you put in the NAT field.
