Hi, I am new here but I have been working with Tandberg 880s and 1000s for about a year now.

My company is requesting a 5 site conference. Currently the most we have done is 4 sites.

Here is the equipment that will be involved in this. 2 Tandberg 880s and 3 Tandberg 1000s. Is this possible with the equipment I have?

I did some troubleshooting yesterday and I was able to get 4 sites up. When I tried to get the 5th site up, it said service not supported. I was reading in the Tandberg 880 manual and it said it is capable of establishing 4 video sites. That would explain what happened above. But the next page in the manual talks about multi site cascading. The host site is a Tandberg 880. Two sites will connect to the host site, another 880 and a 1000. So I have 3 sites now. I try to connect the other two 1000s to the 880 that is connected to the host site and I run into the same problems as above.

Is the equipment I have not capable of successfully establishing a 5 site conference?

Thanks for you help. If it seems unclear what I am asking, I will try to explain it better.

Do you have the MultiSite (MS) option enabled on both of your Tandberg 880?

You have to have that option on both systems for the CASCADE to work. Also I belive you have to have the seconfd system configured for VOICE ACTIVATED and not CONTINOUS PRESENCE. But that should be explained in detail by the manual you are reading.

The 1000s can not be multisites.. so make sure both your 880s have multisite.. then simply have one 880 call the other 880 and 2 of the 1000s.. then have the second 880 call the last 1000.

If you want continous presense.. have the main 880 in CP and the second 880 in voice switched (tho I think that might be done automatically).

Should be automatic per H.243 cascading.
