Hi All

Hopefully someone can answer a few questions that I have on the setting up of a MGC-25 Gateway & MCU.

We have recently installed a MGC Gateway and are having problems with the ISDN PRI in that if you ring the main number of the Gateway nothing happens we also have a 10 number DDI range setup on the PRI and if the first number is called it should go straight to one of our endpoints this has only happened a few times.

Our set up is MGC-25 Gateway, MGC-25 MCU, 7 VSX 7000’s, PathNavigator, GMS, and PVX endpoints.

Does the main number have to be configured into the GW and how many digits of the DDI have to be configured?

what is important is how many digits are presented by your phone company to the MCU on an incoming call. And then.. how you make that number 'look' like the aliases you are trying to map to. I think the MGC even allows defining a table of mappings, so you don't have to have the strings look identical.

But usually this problem is related to you expecting the number to look like X, but it really looks like Y coming from the phone company. For instance, its not uncommon that you are expecting the number to be 10 digits, but it may only be 7 or 4 from the carrier.. or vise versa.

You can work with your vendor on some traces.. or do some brute force methods. Define some mappings that are all the various lengths, (10, 7, 4) and see which works.. or simply setup a call as a normal MCU call, have a site dial in.. and see what the phone number shown for that site is in the advanced properties.
