I just had a strange request from a customer... well not so strange when I start to think about it.

The customer plans to impliment an MGC 50 and a lot of Videoconfrence unites. This will be a centralised system using the Pathnavigator for gatekeeping and MGC will gateway both ISDN and IP.

Now the customer whants to know if there is any solution that can record every single confrence call that takes place on the network and keep it for a few days be for discarding it.

We record all of our bridged calls (we have an MGC-100) but usually from one our originating site, which is a classroom with a video production switcher which allows us to create a switched program of room cameras and the VC interaction. Depending on the class, we also do Realvideo encoding direct from the switcher as well.

However, you could probably add in a Via Video or other connection and record that endpoint if it is a voice activated conference. Or even capture it digitally in a webcast format. If you keep the name the same on the server, it can stay up until you decide to rewrite over it with another session.

Someone might have specifics, if they've actually done this.

If the calls are prescheduled on the MGC, I would go with a device like the Codian IP VCR or Starbak VGC. It will allow you to include the device like another H.323 codec and record the audio and video stream. If they are doing ad-hoc gateway calls it would be much more difficult.
