I am having some serious audio level issues with my VSX8000 (7.5.1 software) and my MGC100 (6.0.3 software). I will not do much better that G.711U and the audio level is very, very poor. In a point-to-point its much better. The VSX uses two Vortex units w/12 boundry microphones. Any ideas? :mad:

can you elaborate more on your probelm?
speed of connection?
are all calls through mcu or can you go direct?
if you can go direct, cwhat does it do in a multipoint connection not involving the mcu?
how are you connecting isdn/ip calling into the mcu or it calling out?
how are you bringing the sites into the conference..this site first, second, third, etc?
What sort of audio probelms are you having? audio drop out, echo feedback?
are you using an external echo cancellor?
is this a new set up or existing room that jusr started withthis problem?
answering the questions willl help get you the answer to your problems quicker...

Carolyn,
Speed=384 ISDN Connections
Both MGC and Point-to-Point (we can use our MCU or the DoD MCU)
We have no IP connections at this time. The primary problems appear to be very low audio levels. When in a P-t-P its ok, but when I join my MCU its almost not even there. I have also noted that I cannot seem to get much better than G.711U/G.722 with the endpoint/MCU, but I can get Siren 14 with a simular VSX endpoint. We are of course using the Vortex for echo cancellation.
Room is fairly new (4 mths), but problems have gotten much worse the last two weeks. As far a joining conferences, we dial them all up at once so its first in, but I usually let it Auto, so I should get the best the first system can do. I am headed to Polycom for some MGC advanced training next week so I hope to be able to read better what the bridge is telling me. I am starting to think that I may have some bad intergration/programming. The Shure 392 mics and Vortex units should provide very clean audio to the codec, which I can see on the balanced input audio meter as pushing up to 20db. Any ideas you have would be greatly appreciated. :classic:
Thanks

Sorry I can't provide much help on the actual problem, but you can crank up the gain on the MGC. This will let you increase or decrease the volume into or out of a site. This is done by way of the sliders on the identification tab on the participant properties.

Guys step back a second and use the original microphone first to see difference !!!.
Also try connect the VCR output to a amplifier or into a TV and see how the level output is there and compare it with the master audio output.
