I know, some of you may laugh that we still have Vtel Galaxy system,,, But here's the issue that we have. It's Vtel Galaxy system with version 2.2. It started shutting down in the middle of conference and rebooting itself. It happens every 2-3 days. I have reinstalled the OS and software, but no luck. I am planning to fdisk it and reinstall one more time tomorrow, but does anyone have any ideas that you had similar problems?

Now if it's not a software issue, it has to go to hardware issue-powersupply. Where do I get the information where or how to get the power supply for vtel?

Thanks

believe it or not...there is a small group of folks (formally VTEL TAC) that have been disbursed and rerouted and now are a part of Wire One's TAC...since they have merged with VSPAN recently, to avoid gettijg lost int he shuffle, I would use the local number to reach this specific group..otherwise, you get connected to Wire One in California and then at some point get routed back to this office as they are the experienced part of the tac with VTEL product. They are a good group (I used to work with them and now they carry my service contracts). Or, you could get yourself a boat and a rope and use tthe Galaxy for your anchor...haha just kidding.

Wire One...(aka Peirce Technologies, group)..local 610-382-1068....if you need to..use my name..You can tell Pat (the person who answers this phone), that Carolyn M. sent ya.

If you have no luck or decide to use the 800....it is 800-835-5266

Since you have no contract..I could not tell you what your costs may be for support....Good Luck!

We still have quite a few of the Galaxy units running. Have you determined if the pc hardware is the problem? Try booting up and not going into a conference to see if it will not restart. If it still reboots there is a good chance of hardware. Check the cpu fan and use memtest86 to test the ram.

If it doesn't reboot it will be software, more than likely. If you have more than one Galaxy , they need to be the same, you could swap the hard drive from a working unit into the bad one. If it works then copy the drive with ghost. Or you could use the restore software if you have lots of time. If you ghost go into the software and change the info on the machine. You can use regedit to change the windows serial # if you are a stickler for detail.

This sounds like Sasser virus. VTEL has a removal tool on their website.

This sounds like a PC hardware problem to me just like Rexen pointed out, the fans are probly the most likely problem but you might try swaping out the memory and check for heat problems.

I recently had to fix a Galaxy unit that had a bad motherboard took some time to find one that still supported ISA.

I recently had the same problem with a Galaxy 2.2 unit. Fdisking and reloading fixed my problem, but there seems to be a rash of this going around, as a lady from another district ask me about this the other day. Mine are PRI only, so no network connection to install a Sasser.
I wonder if there's a Y2K + 5 issue? LOL
