Got a VS4000 using the Concert FX for pre/post-codec audio.
Presently the system can dial out and and be dialed into. Connects to other systems fine with good video. Problem is distant ends are hearing no audio and the local system can't hear incoming audio (in the room anyway).
When we go into diagnostics and speak into teh microphones the indicator isn't picking up any signal so obviously the CODEC isn't getting the audio from the Concert FX.
Aside from improper wiring are there any settings I should look for in the Concert FX and VS4000 to help isolate and fix the problem? Only asking becase these 2 models in particular happen to be unfamiliar to me.
Thanks,
George

George,
From an audio standpoint it sounds like there are a few things that could be going on, so there are several things to check.
How are the mics connected? Are they Polycom mics or are they generic mics going through a mixer and into the line in port?
I assume the audio out of the codec is connected to some sort of speaker system, do you hear the tone when you select generate tone from the audio menu?
For the visual concert to work you connect it inline with the Polycom microphone bus. Does the play button work? If so do you see content showing on the connected TV monitor or does the far site see content? If you are using the Polycom mics then the cable should go from the codec to the brick and then the mics will come off of the brick. Try using only one mic at a time to isolate the cables and microphones. Also try directly connecting the microphones to the codec without the Visual Concert box.

George, can you specify if you're using a H.320 or H.323 network as well?

H.320. 384K over ISDN

We just tried using our VSX 7000 & 8000 w/the Visual Concert VSX over H.323 using various hardware configs & default software settings but it worked. I know it's not a VS 4000 but your situation piqued our curiosity. We'll try it over ISDN in between customer test calls later.

IF your connecting to a VisualConsert FX be careful to use the right cables.
The new audio cables that come with the VisualConsert FX are diffrent from those that came with the system.
There is a larger jack on the end that goes to the Conser box. (RJ11 to RJ45)
If I rember corectly the connection looks somthing like this:
VCFX ----- Mic or VTC
1 ----- 1
2 ----- 2
3
4
5 ----- 3
6 ----- 4

my vote... mic bus cables...
Try plugging a polycom mic directly into the VS4000 to isolate your fault
