Hi
I have a problem with PVX and VVII on VPN which is working on ADSL 2Mbps/768kbps (PPPoE). We have 14 locations with VVII and all calls are made on 384kbps. On the network we have some Cisco routers and some Netscreens. The problem we are haveing is that in Tx(transmite) we have 2073 video packet lost in 10 minutes. In Rx(recive) we have 0. Avdio packets are in Rx and Tx 0.
All ports that polycom reccomends are open.
Would it help if we change network on MPLS
(Multi-Protocol Label Switching)?
Im fresh out of ideas, any idea will do.
thnx all

yes we are getting sound and video, but video is very bad, sometimes picture freeze for 5 seconds or so. If it freeze for more than 5 second the call is droped.

Are you sure that your up-stream is 768K? I thought that the current Max upstream from any ADSL service provider **With the expection of SDSL** is a maximum of 256K.
Have you tried the call at 128k?

ADSL can do 768k upload, what Im more conserned with how honest is you service provider?
Even if you have a 2M/768k connection to ISP he might only have small pipe (10M) to the internet and you might be shareing that pipe with lots of other ADSL users.
try downloading somthing for the internet you should get around 200kbit per sec max and see how stable it is, try as close to you local conncetion (ISP webpage for example)
This is a very rough whay to test your ADSL and there are a few ADSL connection mesuring tools on the network you could use but I cant seem to recall where you should look for them.
what kind of VPN client/server are you using?

256K is the Max Upstream in the UK as far as I'm aware. I think that some service providers can "Tweak" the upstream a bit, but I have never heard of *A*dsl uploading so much. Just for interest please lower the call bandwidth and let me know that outcome.
Thanks James

In Slovenia we have one ADSL provider and that is Telecom Slovenia. The pipe is 2m/768k because we tesed it for 3days non stop. There are some drops of upload bandwith but never under 512k. When we started this project we were avere of nonQOS on ADSL thats why we make all calls on 384kbps. Thats 50% buffer zone. If we call on 128kbps the same thing happens and refresh rate is very bad.
Could this be some bugs in PVX software, maybe long packets that come from VPN and DSL heads, because every pocket video/avdio/data is equpet with VPN and ADSL heads? But if im correct all of these heads dont come to endpoint, they are away on Cisco and Netscreen routers?

Chances are if you are using the cisco VPN software you need to set the MTU to "defaut".
The cisco VPN software has a habit of changing the MTU to 1300.
Use set-mtu from program files/cisco VPN.
Select your LAN connection and set the "radio button" to default
I have seen this cure similiar probems in the past.
