I have a problem with a location that seems to be giving me fits. The particulars are as follows...

far end codec - vcon cruiser
connection -ip
bridge service - sprint
mode when problem occurs -voice activated and CP

Whenever this problem site enters the bridge acoustic noise is heard. the bridge doesn't show any transmit errors. the noise level becomes multiplied when the site unmutes. All the sites on the bridge hear it. the only way to eliminate it is to have the bridge mute them. What could be causes the problem. I'm thinking the mic may be defective.

If any of you have seen this I appreciate your help.

if the system is muted and still making noise in the call its not your microphone. You might have some audio codec interoperability too. See if you can have the bridge provider force the call to a more common standard like G711 and see if you can force that on your codec. I've never used a vcon so I don't know if you can do that.

Might want to check that the system is negotiating audio the same both ways. Some systems don't like asymetric audio much.

Hello, I take you have tried using the handset with the cruiser to see if the noise is not being caused by a proximity issue between the speakers and the built in mic in the camera. That unit is capable of G.711 and is fairly robust. I have had problems in the past with pc speakers interfering.

Also, and Im sure this is not the case, if you have a mic plugged into the sound card it can cause some interesting sounds. Im going out on a limb here but these are things that I have come accross in my support of vcon stuff for the past 7 years.

If you would like to try another codec, I take it that you have a cruiser 25. Gimme a shout and Ill mail you one, I got loads... :)
