23 May 2005. Digital Video Enterprises, Inc. (DVE), the world’s leader in True Telepresence conferencing, has announced a revolutionary line of display products which will enhance the visual communication experience for any codec vendor that adopts them. DVE displays provides an experience that truly simulates being there in person. This is achieved, in part, by optically- concealed cameras behind the images on the display screens.

This is actually an old technology. It has been around for quite a while with a company called Teleportec. They just didn't know how to run a business so it never took off.

If I may correct your assertion that Teleportec first used DVE Telepresence display systems, and that it is old technology. You were mislead by your information source.

Here are the facts:

1) Digital Video Enterprises, Inc. (DVE) developed, patented and marketed the transparent telepresence podium display in 1995.

Teleportec didn't do basic patent research before they started their marketing.

2) The actual patent number for the transparent telepresence podium (owned by DVE) is US 6,710,797 B1 original filing date was 9.20.1995

We also hold 11 other issued US patents related to eye-contact and telepresence display technologies. A new patent was just granted last week. The telepresence patenting efforts are still ongoing.

3) Our new telepresence products just hit the market a couple of months ago. Our podium uses a completely different projection / effect method than the Teleportec podium. As for our other 9 telepresence products. They all have our newest advances and designs incorporated into them. Our telepresence display systems range
from 20"eye-contact desktop displays to 6' X 20' continuous presence meeting rooms for up to 12 lifesized conferees.
Although we've built eye-contact telepresence room systems over the past years. Our new "big room" systems have only recently been perfected. There isn't anything old about our products, quite to the contrary they are brand new.

I recommend reviewing our website for more detailed information www.DVEtelepresence.com ( check out our telepresence whitepaper)
