Hi,

I'm looking to buy a fairly good quality web cam, I have seen some of the logitech ones and quite like the look and spec of the LOGITECH - QUICKCAM PRO 4000.
Anyone used this and if so what did you think?

We use this as our standard camera with PVX and have been very happy with the results. They work very well just remember to turn the audio gain down as the integrated microphone is rather hot.

We recommend this camera as well for all of our PVX applications and have yet to have a complaint.

Does anyone know if the PVX supports a PTZ cam? or even if it supports FECC? My coworker is looking at trying to meet some requests for home monitoring, telemedicine applications. Any info would help. Thanks:)

Carolyn,

The PVX supports FECC (meaning, I can control someone elses camera). It is possible to have PVX handle a "local" PTZ camera (Cannon VCC4, Sony D100, etc) but it requires and addon program (which was developed by myself and an associate) This solution is still "in band" (H.281 support).

If you are interested in this PTZ add-on, let me know. It's still in development.

This sounds promising. I am going to pass this information along to my coworker and the others involved with this project to see what course of action they may want to take. I know they have been in touch with Polycom concerning this issue as well.

I will be in touch! Thanks:)

Hi Airwave,

You should be aware of the m$ TV crap that gets installed with these webcams & XPSP2.
