What is, if there are any, difference between the Polycom 512 verses the Polycom pvs-1419-Q?
Do they both do NTSC and PAL?
What is the cost differences?

Polycom 512 is a IP based videconfrencing product and if I remember correctly the "pvs-1419-Q" is the Quad BRI ISDN IMUX box for that unit, that is you need to connect an IMUX fore the unit to work with ISDN calls (H.320)

b.t.w. there are diffrent types of IMUX boxes for diffrent connections but the IP is built into the unit.

Thank you for replying!
Does the pvs-1419-Q also do PAL as the add said NTSC camera but my thought was that all polycom's do both PAL and NTSC?

Maybe I should have qworded my question alittle better.
Does the pv-1419-Q accept and output a PAL and NTSC signal?

pv-1419-Q is not a Videoconference unit it is a BOX to connect ISDN to the Videoconference unit so its totaly unrelated to the video signal. you neeed to find out what partnumber the Viewstation itself has to find out if it PAL or NTSC

Ah hah!
Does this mean that any inputed camera, either PAL or NTSC with work on the the PVS 1419-Q?
And if so, am I am correct to say that the output signal from this unit has to connect to a television of the same system as the camera?
I was thrown off by this site: http://www.tkoworks.com/video-conferencing/equipment/polycom/viewstation/sp/index.html
which says units can input and output either signals.

OK, there something your not understanding here. That part is not a 'video' part. It's a part that your codec uses to dial the call.

to clarify

the Quad BRI unit - model number PVS 1419-Q will only work with a Polycom Viewstation camera. whether the camera is NTSC or PAL should not affect whether the IMUX unit works with it.

I think the way your web link describes it is easy to misunderstand. As Skylark says, the Viewstations only do one format or the other.

Have any of you heard of the part PVS-XX12? From my understanding, it looks like a custom module to interface with a PBX system. I have a customer who wanted to know if he could take the ISDN connectivity of that device and use it with a TANDBERG 6000. After doing some research on that part number (Polycom's site was very little help), I've decided it must use a proprietary interface with the ViewStation. Has anybody run into one of these little boxes? Can anybody confirm this?

I'm not sure if this part also goes by the name of PV-1419-Q, that might just be a standard ISDN Quad interface for the ViewStation.

Thank you.
