In the product literature for the VSX 6000 it says that it supports People + Content, but there is no mention of support for H.239.

I've got a large Tandberg MXP deployment and somebody wants to bring a VSX 6000 into the mix. Will the VSX 6000 interoperate with the DuoVideo / H.239?

Thanks

Yes, according to the data sheet I just reviewed and some recently released Sales & Marketing data (6/12, V-series matrix) that I double checked with off the extranet, the VSX6000 is ITU H.239 compliant. You will need some additional hardware (Polycom Visual Concert VSX device) which is an option.

BTW - the vsx is compatible with only the Tandberg MXP series/H.239, not the classics/or DuoVideo.

Let me know if this helps.

As I understand it the VSX 6000 is just like the VSX 7000 unit without the subwoofer. The subwoofer wpuld contain the ISDN card or other models so the VSX 6000 is an IP only

The classic Tandberg product can run H.239 also if the software is updated. It is turned off by default. I've done a succesful H.239 call in the past with Tandberg classic to VSX H.239.

Perfect, thanks all for your help.

I think I was put off by the fact that I needed the extra piece of the Visual Concert; it's not inherent in the product itself or something like that. I didn't check the Visual Concert spec sheet.

well you need the Visualconcert to send H.239 but you can view it with out one.

I'm relatively new to forums in general but I hope the following helps: In answer to your question it will support h239 people and content and is an industry supported standard.

H.239 is not people+content and P+C is not industry standard

Only H.239 (which is neither P+C nor duovideo) is standard.

From the ITU website:

H.239 (07/03) (http://www.itu.int/search/searchredirect.asp?recommendation.asp?type=items&lang=E&parent=T-REC-H.239-200307-I) Role management and additional media channels for H.300-series terminals

thats the official name of the feature :)
