Anybody know why our mgc-100 is only partitioned to use 500MB out of a 2GB hard drive? I ran out of space during a software update so I called polycom to see what steps I should take next and they have no idea why my drive is partitioned this way.

I was able to install the update and get up and running again using following the steps polycom told me.

1) start the manager with the following, operws.exe -d, this adds a Delete Files option under the MCU Utils menu.
2) delete the BIN directory
3) proceed to update the mgc as normal

heh I wonder if this is something that can be resized with partition magic (without breaking it of course) ;P Everything I hear about os install on the mgc is that it can only be done at the factory and such. I checked using fdisk from a dos boot floppy and sure enough its only 500MB out of 2GB being used.

Anyone else have some input, thoughts or two cents on this situation?

Speaking form 8 years of PC Tecnical support experiance, If the file system is FAT16 or FAT32 it should work ok if you rezise it (should be totaly independant form the operating system). But I haven´t had to go that deep with an MGC yet so don´t take my words as a guranty.

What I would do if I was you is to get my hands on a old 2GB harddisk and clone the 500MB partison on to it and rezise at the same time. Then try booting up on the new disk, that way you will not be messing with the original and can fall back on it if things dont work,
