Recently several large banks in Japan are adopting videoconferencing system integrated into their remote teller service. With this service, customers can open accounts, apply for house loans, etc.. by talking to remote teller with videoconferencing. More than 1000 video endpoints have been installed at the banks and within one to two years from now on hundreds more will be installed.
Largest user at this moment is UFJ Bank and the bank has installed the video remote teller system at all of their 495 branches nationwide. More than 300,000 video sessions were done in one year alone.
