Well, the 7000 is being replaced by the 7000s which is an incremental change in hardware. The 6000 was only introduced earlier this year! (http://www.polycom.com/investor_relations/1,1434,pw-180-221-9272,00.html)

Funny since the horse they rode up until now was investment protection with 5+ years of blah blah blah.

Found out a bit more After December 31 2005 (or until Polycom warehouse inventory depleted) Polycom will discontinuenew sales and stop taking orders for the following video products in Europe/Middle East/Africa VSX 6000,7000,7400,7800
is Polycom pulling out of Europe ? or are other plans afoot

that's the same as what he posted above.. the 6000 and 7000 going away. the 7400 and 7800 are just packages of the 7000.

the 7000 is being replaced by the 7000s

Yep, the 7400 and 7800 are just bundles (including P+C and multisite, stereo speakers etc). The codecs are identical to the 7000.

The 7000 and 7000s are different codecs.

7000s is a new and improved verison of 7000. Basicly they upgraded the hardwavre and added a new VGA output possibility.

So basicly the are swapping there product line out for new one that is a little bit better and I cant se anything negative about that.

Yes, but even after the upgrade no mention of HD on anything except the VSX8000. Does this mean another upgrade in the near future?

I am trying to mate a Polycom vsx 7000 to a Northern Telcom 81 -C PBX. Both sides have a PRI card as we used with the old PictureTel u nit. The only setting on the PBX that I can select a network side is SL-1. The only choices on the PolyCom side that even try to mate up is NI-2. The B channels come up idle, the D channel establishes and I can make a video call into the unit fine. However the Polycom will not seize the B channels to make a call. I return errors stating protocol mismatch on the PBX. If I select ESS4 or 5 on both sides, I do not have the choice to select Network to work as the master side, both sides are running as user and it doesn't work, as to why I have selected NI-2 and SL-1 (net) to get the channels up and the D channel established?

Any ideas,

Johnny
