Hey,
I am trying to make an ISDN call with the 880 mxp. I am using an old terminator(motorola NT1D) but I dont think that is the problem because it still works with the old system. When everything is hooked up the first ISDN line in the first terminator flashes at a synchronized pace and if you call the line it rings once and then I get a busy signal.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Robert

May be you can use Telenet or Hyperterminal to Trace between the T880 and Network terminator.
Follow the steps
1.Login through Hyperterminal (RS 232 cable with 9600baudrate , 8 bit ,no parity)
2.before make isnd call, enter the command ISDN On in the hypertermincal
3.After that try to make call
4.Now you will get the diagnose report in hexadecimal format to get normal format use TISDN.exe to get trace file
5 with this we can idenfity where is the problem, like between the telco and you or the NT to your t880.
if possible send me the copy of the diagnose, I will try to find out where is the problem.
Hope this help

Cables? What is the 'old' system? Are you using a known good cable? Have you triple checked the configuration in the codec? For its SPIDs and switch type?
You can also try swapping the first line into say.. the last ISDN port of the codec to eliminate physical jack problems. But sounds like possible config or cable problems.

Hey Guys,
We managed to make a call. At first we were using ISDN ports 1, 2, 3 on the back of the 880 mxp. We switched to ports 2, 3, 4 and it worked fine. We then switched codecs and tried another 880 mxp in ports 1, 2, 3 and it worked. I think the one port is shot... i dont know of any other reason why it wouldnt work. The config was the same on both tandbergs.
Am i wrong?
thx

Double check to make sure that port is activated (enabled) in the ISDN set up of the codec.

As silly as it may sound...you might want to spend $300.00 on a newer nt1 box. I don't care how silly it sounds..these system..any vc system..can be finicky with isdn and how it interacts withthe nt1. I have experienced the stupidity of trying a different nt1 from another system with such certainty it would just prove the same result only to to be denied my moment of happiness in being able to blam ma bell once again for the problem.
That or wipe the spids and do an autodetect set up (if the vc system you have has that feature). but it sounds to me that your newer vc system doesn't like that modem. Good Luck

try turning of ( disabling ) port 4. Seen it make a difference before when using just the first three ports.
