Hello, in my organization I'm working to set up an "architecture" of videoconference systems of the same brand, Tandberg of course.
My organization has several departments distribuited over the country (Italy), all IP connected on a wan with good bandwidth (from 20 MB to 6 MB).
We have bought the following Tandberg systems:
- nr. 2 IP/ISDN/MCU systems located in big rooms
- nr. 2 small group systems, IP only
- nr. 1 small group IP/ISDN system.
All are MXP systems.

My goal: to allow every internal system to communicate with every external IP/ISDN system in the simplest way.
So I planned to buy 1 Border Controller, 1 Gatekeeper and 1 ISDN Gateway, and place them respectively outside, inside and inside the firewall.
What do you think about this choice?

I've heard about the need to have another Gatekeeper outside the firewall, so that every system in the Net (also IP public systems) can connect to my systems. Is that true?

The Tandberg Session Border Controller will require an outside G/K to allow other brand (non H.460) endpoints access to/from the internal endpoints. This works well with providing access to other networks with open G/K and endpoints.

Only if you want to register non H.460.18/19 endpoints to the BC. If you just want to call the systems behind the firewall, you can neighbor the BC to anyone's GK or use URI dialing to call the systems without establishing a neighbor.

Sorry to be late, but thank you all very much for your answers.

Now I'm in the process of deploying the vc network and I have some questions about ISDN gateway.
I'm going to purchase an ISDN PRI with a minimum number of DIDs to plug in the Tandberg gw.
Are there any particular requirements should I ask for the tlephone provider?

Thanks in advance.

there is a previous post about PRI,

A E1 line comes with 30 channels like 30 DID numbers. If you want you can get 30 numbers or also get single number for 30 channels(like say hot line). The DiD numbers depends upon your usage you can get.Like you have big VC network and if you wants to provide seprate DID numbers for each Videoconferencing system. you may go 30 DID numbers.
