Hey Guys,
I am planning to create a TMS server next week... and i have a computer ready with 1.6 Ghz and 1 Gb of RAM. I was wondering if 2 Ghz is a requirement or a recomendation.
Thanx

It's just a recommendation. 1.6Ghz will work just fine... even if you have hundreds of Codecs on your network.

How did your implementation go? I am still waiting on the Corporation to buy the "Standard" server we are allowed to order.

Unless you really want TMS 10, I would look at 11 which was recently released.

What new features are in TMS 11 over 10 sp1?

Glad to hear. We're about to have our server installed and it would be great to have those docs in case our server folks want to read it over.

Software is available now. Documentation will be available over the next few days.

Will TMS 11 be available as a download? It is not on the public site and it appears that many items are missing.

Yes check in a few days. We do not put the software up until all supporting documentation etc is available.
What 'items are missing'?

Hi Sean,
Can you post a link to the version 11 documentation when available...I am very interested. I'm currently running version 9.6. Thanks in advance.

Checked again, all items are there now. I may have had an incomplete page loading.

My Network guy read the Release notes for TMS11 and told me that it supports SQL 2005 now. He also said that it is recommended that you upgrade to SQL 2005 before upgrading to TMS 11.
I didn't see that note in the release notes. Is it true or did he read something into it?

I see nothing that shows a recommendation to that effect. Just an announcement that SQL 2005 is compatilbe.
Other references to SQL 2005 are that previous versions of TMS were not compatible.
Have him explain what he sees and let us know.

SQL 2005 should work, it worked for us during testing. I wouldn't say its a 'recommended upgrade' but it should work.

I have read the section he is talking about and believe he is reading into it. The section is Recommending to move the database to a new server prior to upgrading TMS. This sounds to me like amplification of the suggestion to put TMS and the Database on different servers rather than recommending upgrading the engine first.
But I do understand his point. Basically, he is saying it would be easier to upgrade to a new engine such as SQL 2005 prior to upgrading to TMS11 than trying to upgrade to the new engine after installing TMS11.
