VSX7000 admin password

Hi all,
we has a vsx7000.
we set an admin password but now we forget it cause technical guy had left out company.
does anyone know howto crack password or what we should do?

More than likely you'll have to set/flash the codec to factory default and then the pw should be the codec serial number....

Can you access this unit via from the Remote controll or has it been totally locked down? Are you refering to the web interface that you are unable to access? I think you will have to do some sort of Serial port reset thingy, but I have never had to do that before with a Polycom so i'm not really sure...

you can't change the password from the remote if you don't know the password.. you can't get to that screen.

they have to default the unit.

if they can get to System > Diagnostics > Reset System they can default it from there, but I'm unsure if you can get there without the admin password. I don't have a vsx 7000 in my office at this time to check.

no need for admin password to reset the VSX 7000. You can give full serial number to reset the vsx7000 and get start with new settings and password. otherwise you can erase the erfl and update new software to setup everything new(if you want guide to erase erfl send me a mail).

reflash codec, reprogram system.

reflashing is easy.

connect a laptop to VSX with a crossover cable. set it's IP to one step next to VSX IP. default VSX Ip is 1.1.1.2.

open a command prompt in windows.
ftp 1.1.1.2
user: admin
serial: (may not ask for it, but have in handy).
bin
quo erfl

this will erase flash and now rebuild system via yr laptop's CD drive and then reprogram.

shouldn't take u more than half hour.

Got to System > Dignostics > Reset system
There you need to put in the serial number to reset the system

Skylark is right. reset with your serial number and create a new password if you wish.Clear flash mem and rebuild is for some cases not for recover the password.

Go with the "System > Diagnostics > Reset system" path. The only times I've flashed a system each box froze up half way through and had to be replaced, they were VS4000s not VSXs, but I still wouldn't trust doing that on a Polycom unless it is absolutely necessary.

Anyway to reset to default mode it the diagnostic (Reset system) cant reset the password. Cause i really cant remember the admin password to acces the admin page from remote control.
