We are using an IP videophone with one RS232c data port to send & receive data. I would like t know if there is any external hardware to connect the medical devices from which I can take a single cable to the RS232c port of my videophone and receive data at the remort end. Will this involve any use of software at the remote end?

Might it be cheaper to use a videophone with more data ports? The SCOTTY mm146 has three. http://www.scottygroup.com/cms.php?pageId=55. The alternative is a Black Box Code Operated Switch http://www.blackbox.com/Search.aspx?q=code+operated but this requires that you insert a switching code into the data stream.
