Have anybody a list of projectors supporting view of jpg pictures through direct USB-stick or cardreader?

It is sometimes nice to leave the computer at work, and be able to show presentations and picures anyway...

We use
Infocus LP600,
Nec LT-245
Nec LT-280

Does anybody know more brands / models?

We actually had some check out machines that did this and before usb they took memory cards. I always thought it was a really neat feature but we couldn’t get the users to use it. The better ones not only displayed JPEGs but also had a mini powerpoint viewer in them. The loaded the presentation from the card and then let you advance slides with the remote. The slides had to be very basic but it was a really cool thing if you didn’t want to haul a laptop with you. I think the big problem for us was that the users only used these machines occasionally where as I think if you had this on your personal machine you might use it all the time.

jump drives are alot more abundant now too.. not everyone had a memory card reader.. but everyone has USB ports.. and most have jump drives. Hopefully that would push it a little more closer..

But I concur.. the breakpoint of any technology is if you can get people to use it on thier own

Trap I could not agree with you more. I find users will avoid using new technology that is more efficient to use in an attempt to avoid learning something new. People are so against change that they would rather do things the old cluncky way like bring a laptop and a projector.

If you want that kind of functionality, look at Viewsonic's line of projectors. We have one two years old that has those and other features. Runs Powerpoint shows without a PC. Not very difficult to use. The 802.11b wireless is too slow to use for decent video. The company has bundled some decent software that makes using the features with a PC pretty simple. The projector also does a good job as a projector!

A correction: the projector we have is an EPSON! Take a look at the line- they have added more features since we purchased this one.

The following is a feature excerpt for the
Epson PowerLite 835p:

"For high-speed wireless performance and brilliant image quality, the XGA Epson PowerLite 835p is clearly the best solution. 3000 ANSI lumens and Epson LCDs ensure accurate color and detail, while 802.11g WiFi capabilities and Epson's superior processing provide the fastest transfer speed for MPEG2 videos and PowerPoint. presentations. There's even a USB and PCMCIA connection to view movies and digital photos. And, advanced security features offer WEP, WPA, and LEAP compatibility.

The PowerLite 835p provides a power focus and an ultra wide 1.6x zoom for easy setup in any setting. And, with a wired LAN connection, users can remotely monitor and control all projectors."

I am not promoting these products, just amazed at the built in features that really work! The LAN management is also really clever.
