Several years ago I tried to get Vcon Vigos, and then later Polycom Via Videos to work for webconferencing and got totally frustrated when they never worked, even with all kinds of tech support. I eventually just gave up on videoconferencing. Just today however, I used Skype 2.0 for a video call and it was pretty impressive; especially because it worked! Both of us used Philips ToUCam Pro webcams, I on a cable modem and my co-worker on ADSL. I plan on doing this on a regular basis now. Here's my question. I have a Canon VC-C4 PTZ camera left over from one of my Vcon Vigo Pro kits that I've never been able to use. It seems like a very good camera and I'm thinking if I can connect it to my laptop with some kind of video capture card, it might work well with Skype when I want to transmit video of a lecturer who can't have a webcam in front of his face. Is this something that could actually work? Who would you go to for the cables and video capture card? Is the VC-C4 still considered a good camera and worth investing in? Thanks!
