Anyone had to do this?

I would like to install a 6000MXP Profile 43" in a conference room that has existing built-in cabinets. Wall mounting the unit on the opposite wall from the built-ins is out of the question, because the space (6'Wx5'Hx24"D) has a mirror on the back, and would not be desirable for the far-end to see.

The shelf I would like to put the unit on is about 32" off of the floor, and has cabinets underneath. Tandberg does not seem to make a non-wheeled stand for the unit, and the other option they have uses a 990 codec with a 32" LCD. I would like to try and not do a speaker system, etc. I like the all in one use of the Profile system.

Has anyone had to do this before, and if so what was your solution?

Thanks

I would do this through the use of a 3000/6000 MXP installed in the cabinets below. Then purchase a Pioneer plasma with speakers/stand to place on top of the cabinet. Just make sure the cabinet can support the weight of the plasma, it might need to be reinforced.

Then, mount the WAVE camera on top of the plasma.

You would also need some sort of IR repeater or a crestron control system so you can control the codec while the cabinet doors are closed.

I am having a vendor that I work with look in to fabricating a steel plate to mount the Profile unit on, to then bolt to the cabinet.

I would just use the wheel option from Tandberg. We have them deployed in many of our rooms and are happy with the results.
Might be cheeper than having something fabricated.

the profile can be wall mounted.. simply use the wall mount style of installation inside the cabinet (it simply removes the bottom of the stand)

However, having a camera back in a recessed area will give you problems where the camera can see the sides of the cabinet in the camera shot. You're better off to build out the recess so once installed.. there is no recess :)
