Dear all,

I have never used this MUX before, but had a issue with a base switch cut-over at one of our client sites and trying to set switch type to NI-2 on the Madge 60 that is already installed.

The ascend seems to have more switch types... so I was testing in my lab, as a possible alternative to the Madge, but can't seem to get my codecs to dial out.

(i do get a video call inbound, tho, on both codecs).

could anybody pls help me out with the correct dialing string?

I am using an Ascend MAX 4000, Model MBX-4T1-2, with a Host/Dual 449 card on slot 4.

the codecs are a couple of iPowers.

thanks and will appreciate ANY insight and help, since this is really bugging me now.

best rgds,

Check to see what the 'active' dial profile is. If you don't add a prefix (they are listed in the dial-out section of the ASCEND interface), the system dials based on the last-used profile. If there wasn't one, you don't dial out.

Also, use the interface (hyperterminal access) and perform a manual dial from the ASCEND and ensure that the correct leads are turned on (by the way, are you set to RS449/RS366 & are you using RS366 cables fromt he iPower?) between the ASCEND and the iPower.

I assume that when the inbound calls complete, the quality is good, so the lead settings, RS366 settings, dial mode settings, or profiles are the culprit (long list, but, shorter than before, I hope..)

Good luck!

You should also be able to run a loopback from the ascend to the codec.... Can you do that?

jeremy, harvell,

thanks for the responses.

jeremy, i will try and figure out where the 'active' profile is stored.

i tried doing the manual dial from the hyperterminal, but it rings once and immediately drops back to IDLE state.

harvell, how do i run the loopback?

thanks,
