Most of the vendors nowadays publish their ads using HD quality but, are they talking about the camera alone, cause i saw some of the datasheets has remark: HD quality only at 2Mbps and above.
Further more, for a true HD system, do we require to have HD Camera, with 2Mbps line and HDTV ? or any of the above?

Hi
Before I start let me be open and honest and tell you I work for LifeSize.
True HD is defined by resolution and frame rate, to be classed as High Definition you must support either 1280x720 or 1920 x 1080 pixels, in either an interlaced or progressive scan.
Also to be true HD you must support at least 23.976 frames per second.
The bandwidth required to transmit and recieve the image is dependant on the compute power of the hardware and its ability to compress and decompress the data.
The LifeSize HD system requires only 1mb to deliver 30 frames per second of 720p HD video. Other systems will vary and you should ask their represenatatives for information on what their requirements are.
To capture a HD image you will of course need a HD camera and to display the image you will need a HD capable monitor.
Hope this helps

But, correct me if i'm wrong, i've read something on Polycom Pro-Motion, which could deliver 30 fps at 512kbps. Are they having HD camera and delivering HD video ?
How about Lifesize ?

Pro Motion is not HD, its just a higer framerate (Anyone who knows more than that please feel free to chime in).
Polycom dont yet have a HD camera, LifeSize does have a proper HD camera

According to Jontracey, we need to fulfill those criteria : HD cam, HD processing, bandwidth and HD display .... i also read from some forum a True HD display needs to have DVI or HDMI but i don't see Lifesize has the output although is can processs but not outputing a true HD quality ..... how can it be a HD system ?

The specification for a HD Ready display means it must have
HDMI or DVI and Component inputs
The LifeSize Room supports Component output therefore can display a true 720p display

ProMotion is 2CIF or 60 fields per second interlaced video. It is not the same thing as 720p.

To be digital you have to use HDMI or DVI. If you are satisfied with analog, you can use component. However, there are many that speculate that Hollywood is going to do away with the analog way of doing things over the next few years as they have less control over content protection. It is anyone's guess right now, but I think its safe to say that analog will disappear before digital does.

my question is "will not having HMDI or a DVI will impact the HD display though the Display may itself be HD ? . Also what is the main practical difference between True HD and HD ready. There is so much confusion
