We've been having significant problems with the audio portion of our integrated VC room. Two different companies have tried to figure it out over the last 18 months and our patience has expired. We have a VSX8000 and 2 EF2280 Vortex units. I need a local or semi-local company that knows the Vortex units very well.
Thanks,
Mark

If you can't get someone to fix the problem, I would suggest you try the Biamp Nexia VC.
I have just been through the same thing with poor sound quality in a Vortex system, and there was no way that I could get the Vortex to play ball. I replaced it with a Nexia VC and the improvement was 100%. You won't have the integration with the 8000, but at least you'll have decent sound.
It appears to me that the Vortex may be succeptible to mic selection and placement. All my other Vortex installations have desk/lectern mics and the sound quality is good. This installation was set up by others, and the room was a bit of an acoustic nightmare. There were four ceiling mounted mics, and there were three projectors installed in the ceiling, projecting fan noise into the mics. The client was not interested in changing anything in the room, but the change of dsp processor brought the sound quality to an acceptable level.

Connect your laptop system to the Vortex and pull the config file with Conference Composer. Send the config file to Polycom and they will tweak it out so it works properly. Reload their config onto your Vortex....
