Hi all,

I'm having some problems with a Polycom viewstation FX. We're trying to dial out via IP to the distant end. We've got good LAN/WAN indicators on the back of the CODEC and we are running DHCP.

After plugging in the IP address and dialing, we get an error message: Network resources are unavailable. The distant end gets the same when trying to get to us with our IP address.

I'm figuring that it's got to be a menu setting that we're missing, because the network should see the CODEC easy enough. We're going to another location that is within the same company, so they should be DHCP as well.

Any suggestions??

Tks! :tired:

check your DNS and gateway settings

You might TELNET into your FX and capture the log file while trying a call. There may be clues there as to what is going on. That is, if you can even get to your IP address.

I noticed that you stated that it was the same company; is it the same area or are you geographically different? I know that when I was doing these from Iraq back to CONUS we would often come up with this error and the answer varied. Sometimes it was a downed link and other times it was a firewall not allowing the packets to pass.

Definitely check your DNS and gateway settings as already suggested as that could very well get it fixed before trying my rabbit hole :ponder:

Tks for the inputs! I was able to get into the menu and it was a simple menu setting; DHCP was not set. Great assists all!
